TYPEMOTION. Type as Image in Motion
Movable at least since Gutenberg, type has been moving to and across cinema screens, computer monitors and other projection surfaces. TYPEMOTION, an international editorial and research project, explores the experimental combination of images and ty pe in film, from the early days of silent cinema to the ubiquitous visual culture of the present day. In November 2013, the first exhibit ion of this project "Schriftfilme / Typemotion - Type as Image in Moti on" took place in the Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe (ZKM) with more than 250 moving images and objects of the contemporary art on display.
